Staffordshire-born percussionist Aidan Marsden has enjoyed a richly varied musical career since graduating from studies in Manchester and London. Aidan has recently performed and recorded with the BBC Scottish Symphony, Brigantes, Northern Film, and Dorset Opera Festival orchestras, while a keen interest in contemporary music has led to several performances on BBC Radio 3, including on the Proms Extra and In Tune series.
As a soloist, Aidan is particularly keen to expand the repertoire for the glockenspiel. June 2019 saw the curation of a recital of new works for glockenspiel and voice alongside mezzo-soprano Rosie Middleton as part of that year’s Culture Mile Festival in Central London, which led to the creation of the Twinkling In The Firmament
concert series in January 2020. Aidan most recently continued this series as part of 2025’s St Endellion Festival.
Outside of classical music, Aidan also plays drums for progressive rock band The Far Meadow and London-based singer/songwriter Gaja, in addition to being the live percussionist with experimental metal band Thing. Aidan has also written about being an autistic teacher for Music Teacher Magazine, in addition to presenting on the topic at Merton Music Foundation.
